Washing clothes by the river… How sweet could it be for a traveller on horseback to see a group of women on the banks of the river busy washing clothes amidst songs and small splashes of water? Or to find older women tinkering with needles and wool threads, carding and weaving on the loom, among colours, silkworms and spindles. Softening hemp fibres and, by expertly twisting them, giving birth to a rope… Churning butter in an ancient churn, with the scent of wood, or transforming a beehive into honey, immersed in its fragrance…
